The Nikon ZR, a full-frame Z-mount cinema camera developed in collaboration with RED Digital Cinema, represents Nikon’s entry into the cinema market. This compact and rugged camera, weighing only 630g with the battery and media, caters to both emerging and high-end filmmakers.

The ZR features a partially stacked 24.5-megapixel CMOS sensor, capable of recording up to 6K/60p internally in the new 12-bit R3D NE RAW format. This format, developed by RED, leverages their color science and offers an impressive dynamic range of over 15 stops.

The camera’s powerful EXPEED 7 image processor and deep-learning AI enable exceptional autofocus with subject detection for people, animals, and vehicles, a feature inherited from Nikon’s flagship Z9.

Designed for versatility and user-friendliness, the ZR incorporates a large 4-inch, 1000-nit, fully articulating DCI-P3 LCD touchscreen. To support extended recording sessions, the ZR employs a fanless, heat-dissipating body design that can record for up to 125 minutes on a single battery. USB-C power delivery is available for longer shoots. Additionally, the ZR facilitates an efficient post-production workflow by enabling LUT previews on its monitor and providing Frame.io cloud transfer functionality.

NA-ZR Housing

The NA-ZR underwater housing upholds Nauticam’s dedication to innovation. Essential controls are conveniently accessible via ergonomic handles, facilitating an efficient setup that optimizes time spent in the water and minimizes time spent on rig maintenance. The N120 port system accommodates Nikon Z Mount lens with a new gear system. Nauticam’s extensive range of ports and in-house corrective optics complement the NA-ZR’s capabilities. When equipped with an accessory vacuum valve, the integrated vacuum check and leak detection system provides continuous updates on the housing’s watertight integrity. A vacuum system reset switch, located beneath the tray, eliminates the necessity to open the back of the housing during lens or port changes. The NA-ZR  supports additional mounting with a built in 1/4-20 cheese plate.

Nikon F-Mount & Z-Mount Lens Support

The Nauticam NA-ZR is designed to accommodate Z-Mount lenses.  With the compact design of the NA-ZR housing, there are newly released zoom and focus gears.  There is also the 22225 N120 FTZ Adapter ER 25 with Knob which will allow you to manual focus Z-Mount lenses and their corresponding gears.  For complete compatibility details, you can view the NA-ZR Port Chart.
