North Sulawesi

North Sulawesi features some of the most diverse dive areas in Indonesia. From the walls of Bunaken National Marine Park to the soft-coral clad reefs of Bangka Island and the macro-rich waters of Lembeh Strait, there is no better place to work on all aspects of your portfolio.  This 10-night trip is designed to bring you the best of North Sulawesi at two of the best resorts in Indonesia.  As Coral Eye Marine Outpost and Siladen Resort are sister properties, transfers between the two are provided by boat with diving along the way.  Luggage will meet you in your next villa when you arrive at lunchtime after two dives. No missed dives on transfer day!

Bangka Island

Coral Eye | Bangka Island | Sep 1-6, 2027

Coral Eye Marine Outpost began its life as a place for scientists to study the incredibly rich reefs on Bangka Island and has become one of the most luxurious properties in the region.  1800 feet of private white sand beach give way to one of the most incredible house reefs in all of Indonesia.  Coral Eye's large dive boats are perfectly suited to having photographers on board with ample space for cameras.  The sloping soft coral reefs of Bangka Island are teeming with fish life.  Macro-rich bays are filled with rare nudibranchs and rhinopias are often encountered as are several giant frogfish.  With Lembeh Strait a mere 45 minute boat ride away, day trips are also always an option for those looking to do a more intense macro-focused day of diving.  Coral Eye's villas are the definition of barefoot luxury and the new beachside pool, restaurant and lounge provide the perfect respite between dives.

Blue Heron Bridge Workshops - New Dates for 2026!

Take advantage of one of the finest macro sites in the world, our own Blue Heron Bridge, located in West Palm Beach, FL. This 3-day clinic focuses on macro photography, and there may not be a better setting anywhere to hold this kind of class.  The bridge is actually located on the intercoastal waterway, inshore. This protected area has a great tidal exchange, protection from two bridge structures, and an island (Phil Foster Park)

The diversity of macro life at the Blue Heron Bridge dive site is unlike anything else in the tropical Atlantic. Unusual critters like seahorses, frogfish, pipefish, sea robins, batfish, stargazers, nudibranchs, and flatworms, are common sightings.  A host of juveniles start their lives in this protected area before moving out on the reef.  Tropical angelfish, spadefish, barracuda, and jacks are found amongst the bridge pilings.  Eagle rays and stingrays feed in the sand flats, and manatees are even seen on occasion.

In addition to photo instruction, this class includes a dive guide for every 2-3 divers. Our guides work for local dive operators or in the Reef Photo store and are expert Blue Heron Critter Finders. Our guests can focus on taking pictures, and we'll lead you from subject to subject. No stress about dragging around a dive flag, navigation, or boat traffic; just relax and take pictures!
