Introducing Grand Cayman, May 29-June 5, 2027
Grand Cayman Photography Workshop — with Ocean Frontiers at Compass Point Dive Resort
Grand Cayman has a long history as a wonderful destination for both diving and diverse underwater photography opportunities. Join instructor Matthew Sullivan at the wonderful Compass Point Dive Resort for a trip that pairs extremely productive diving with hands-on, personalized photo instruction.
The Workshop
Our Grand Cayman workshop is designed to elevate your underwater photography through a blend of expert instruction, hands-on assistance, and personalized coaching. Whether you're new to underwater photography or refining an established eye, we'll cover the techniques that help you make the best possible images during the trip. Our goal is to send you home with a portfolio you're proud of, along with the knowledge and confidence to keep improving long after the workshop ends.
Each day includes a classroom presentation, followed by an image review, and one-on-one instruction as needed, tailored to your individual goals and experience level. We'll dig into exposure, strobe positioning and lighting, composition, autofocus and focus modes, and creative techniques that make your images stand out. By combining daily shooting opportunities with constructive feedback and in-depth instruction, you'll build both the technical skills and the creative vision to take your underwater photography to the next level.

The Resort
For 30 years now, Ocean Frontiers at Compass Point Dive Resort, has ferried divers and photographers all over Grand Cayman, showing off the best the island has to offer underwater. The resort sits right on the water, and the large, spacious boats are just a short jaunt down the dock. Each boat provides ample room for camera gear, lots of shade, and a comfortable ride to any of the 55+ moored dive sites.

Diving in Grand Cayman
For decades, Grand Cayman has long been a much-loved dive destination for divers of all experience levels and passions. From shallow reefs and dramatic walls to wrecks, seagrass beds and, sandy flats, and encounters with everything from turtles and rays to tiny macro critters, the island offers an impressive variety of underwater experiences. The diving is easy, the water is clear and warm, and there is to keep underwater photographers interested.
The Caribbean in general seems to be overlooked by more-experienced divers and photographers, especially from North America and Europe, who often desire to visit more “exotic” destinations. Grand Cayman is no exception but it can be a remarkably productive underwater photography destination as time in the water is maximized and subjects are often abundant and cooperative.
