Nauticam NA-R5II Underwater Housing for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II
The Canon EOS R5 Mark II is one of the most capable hybrid mirrorless bodies on the market for underwater shooting. It pairs a 45MP full-frame stacked BSI CMOS sensor with Dual Pixel Intelligent Autofocus, up to 30 fps continuous shooting, and 8K RAW internal video. The Nauticam NA-R5II Underwater Housing unleashes that performance beneath the surface, delivering full tactile access to the camera's controls, a rugged anodized aluminum shell rated to 100m, and the refined ergonomics Nauticam is known for. As an authorized Nauticam dealer, Reef Photo & Video backs every housing with hands-on setup guidance, port and lens advice, and full in-house service.
Key Features of the Nauticam NA-R5II
Mission Control ergonomics: Dual thumb levers and dual sub-levers by the right handle put AF-ON, record, playback, and EVF/LCD switching under your fingertips, while knurled rubber command dials and a two-stage shutter trigger keep operation intuitive in cold water or gloves.
Patented port-locking system:Ports mount with a single lever, with no twisting or threading, and lock securely so ports won’t rotate even with extended focus and zoom gears fitted. The quick release bayonet allows for simple and fast port changes.
Integrated vacuum & leak detection:Built-in electronics support Nauticam’s temperature-compensated vacuum check and moisture-alarm system (add the optional M16 Vacuum Valve II) to confirm a watertight seal with a color-coded LED before you ever get wet.
Temperature-compensated electronics: The monitoring circuit compensates for camera heat and ambient temperature swings to prevent false alarms — a genuine advantage during long 8K video sessions.
Dual lens release buttons: Separate RF and EF release controls make switching between native RF glass and adapted EF lenses fast and foolproof.
Flexible flash triggering: Choose the manual LED trigger or the TTL Flash Trigger for Canon, both firing strobes over fiber optic bulkheads for clean, reliable exposures.
Lens & Port Compatibility
The NA-R5II uses Nauticam's proven N120 port system, giving you access to an extensive library of dedicated dome ports, flat macro ports, and extension rings. Native Canon RF lenses mount directly, while legacy Canon EF lenses are fully supported through a Canon EF–RF adapter and the appropriate Nauticam port and gear. A control wheel on the left side of the housing drives the adapter's control ring, and the housing integrates seamlessly with existing Nauticam N120 port setups carried over from Canon DSLR systems — protecting your investment as you upgrade.
Hybrid Shooting & HDMI Monitoring
Built for filmmakers as much as photographers, the NA-R5II supports external monitoring and recording over its HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 1.4 cable systems. Pair it with a dedicated external monitor housing — the Atomos Ninja V Housing or the NA-Shinobi-H Housing — to nail focus and exposure while capturing Canon Log and 10-bit color for maximum post-production latitude.
Enhanced Viewfinder Options
Precise composition is effortless with Nauticam's optical-glass full-frame viewfinders, which magnify the R5 Mark II's finder image edge to edge. Choose the Full Frame Straight Viewfinder 40°/0.8:1 for a natural eye-level position, or the Full Frame Angle Viewfinder 40°/0.8:1 for a rotatable, low-angle perspective ideal for macro work on the reef or in the muck.
Premium Water-Contact Optics
Perhaps the greatest advantage of the Nauticam system is easy access to Nauticam’s acclaimed water-contact optics. Wide-angle shooters can pair the R5II with the FCP-1, WWL-C or WACP-1B for corner-to-corner sharpness, expansive fields of view, and incredible image quality. On the macro end of things, the MFO-1 delivers edge-to-edge sharpness while improving autofocus performance and providing a small bump in magnification. The MFO-3 expands the field of view of your macro lens, improves autofocus performance, and gives you much greater versatility on a single dive—ideal when you want to move between different-sized subjects. For super-macro fans, the SMC-3 and SMC-2 deliver outstanding magnification and exceptional sharpness across the frame, making them powerful tools for capturing the smallest subjects in remarkable detail.
