Nauticam NA-a1II Underwater Housing for the Sony a1 II & a9 III
The Nauticam NA-a1II is a single, precision-machined aluminum housing engineered to take two of Sony’s most capable professional mirrorless cameras — the 50.1-megapixel Sony a1 II and the global-shutter Sony a9 III — beneath the surface. Because both bodies share a common chassis, Nauticam is able to serve them with one housing, so you can pack a single system and swap between high-resolution stills, blistering 120fps action, and 8K video on the same trip without changing anything other than the camera body. The result is a complete underwater imaging toolbox built around Nauticam’s proven Mission Control ergonomics, robust sealing, and the industry’s deepest catalog of ports and water-contact optics. As an authorized Nauticam dealer, Reef Photo & Video backs every housing with hands-on setup guidance, port and lens advice, and full in-house service.

Key Features of the Nauticam NA-a1II
-
Mission Control ergonomics: Essential controls are arranged along the left and right sides of the housing, with dual-action thumb levers near each handle for AF-ON, record trigger, and image playback, plus command wheels on the right for rapid shutter, aperture, and ISO changes — all without lifting your hands from the grips.
-
Patented port-locking system: Ports mount with a simple lever, no twisting or threading, and lock securely in place, keeping ports from rotating even with extended focus and zoom rings attached. The patented bayonet mount makes changing ports and lenses quick and easy.
-
Tool-free locking latches. The housing’s latch system is among the easiest to operate in the industry, requiring very little hand strength to open and close the housing yet holding it securely closed against accidental opening.
-
Moisture alarm & vacuum-ready. Paired with an accessory vacuum valve, the built-in electronic monitoring system gives you a constant, color-coded LED read-out of the housing’s watertight status along with peace of mind during your dive.
-
Optical flash triggering: The Nauticam Mini Flash Trigger for Sony provides instant strobe firing in conjunction with fiber optic cables.
-
M24 HDMI bulkhead: A large M24 accessory bulkhead feeds Nauticam’s HDMI 2.0 (or HDMI 1.4) cabling system for external monitoring and recording.
Lens & Port Compatibility
The NA-a1II is built on Nauticam’s N100 port mounting system, which supports an extensive selection of dome ports, flat macro ports, and water-contact optics across the entire Sony E-mount lens lineup. Because it shares the port architecture of earlier full-frame Sony housings such as the NA-A7RV and NA-A1, existing owners can carry over their ports, gears, and lens combinations for a smooth upgrade path. Larger N120-class optics mount via the appropriate N100-to-N120 adapter, giving you access to the full range of wide and macro solutions.

Hybrid Shooting & HDMI Monitoring
Both cameras are formidable hybrid tools — 8K 30p and 4K 120p on the a1 II, and 4K up to 120fps with S-Log on the a9 III — and the NA-a1II is ready to feed a large external display for critical focus and exposure. Through the M24 bulkhead and Nauticam’s HDMI 2.0 cabling, you can add a housed recorder/monitor such as the Nauticam Atomos Ninja V Housing or the SDI-equipped Nauticam Atomos Ninja V-S Housing for 4Kp60 10-bit recording.
Enhanced Viewfinder Options
To make the most of the cameras’ high-resolution electronic viewfinders, the NA-a1II accepts Nauticam’s full-frame optical viewfinders, which deliver a large, edge-to-edge image with dioptric adjustment tuned to your eyesight. Choose the Nauticam Full Frame Straight Viewfinder 40° / 0.8:1 for a natural, in-line view, or the Nauticam Full Frame Angle Viewfinder 40° / 0.8:1 for comfortable low-angle and over-under compositions.
Premium Water-Contact Optics
The greatest advantage of the Nauticam system is direct access to its water-contact optics, which correct the image where the water meets the glass for exceptional sharpness across the frame. For wide angle the WWL-1B provides a wide 130° field of view, or step up to the WACP-1B and WACP-2 conversion ports for reference-grade corner-to-corner performance. For macro, add the Nauticam MFO-1 for improved edge-to-edge sharpness, and improved autofocus, or the MFO-3 for a wider field of view, improved image quality, and more versatility on your dive. Finally for supermacro fans, Nauticam's SMC-3 or SMC-2 offer remarkable image quality for the ocean's smaller critters.
