Nauticam NA-a1II Underwater Housing for Sony a1II and Sony a9III Camera
Introducing Nauticam NA-a1II Underwater Housing for Sony a1II and Sony a9III Camera
The Sony A1II Camera:
The Sony A1 II is Sony’s latest flagship full-frame mirrorless camera, succeeding the original A1. The new model builds upon its predecessor by incorporating advanced AI-driven technologies and practical improvements, catering to professional photographers and videographers seeking high performance and versatility within a single camera body.
The A1 II retains the 50.1-megapixel full-frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor from the original A1, offering improved image quality at mid-to-high ISOs due to enhancements in the image processing engine.
Equipped with an advanced AI processing unit, the camera offers real-time subject recognition and tracking for various subjects.
The A1 II supports blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30 frames per second with full autofocus.
In addition the camera offers 8.6K oversampling for 8K 30p footage with full-width, full-pixel readout, 4K 120p recording, and a Super 35 mode.
Image stabilization is offered at a whopping 8.5-stops, adding three extra stops compared to its predecessor. This enhancement allows for handheld shooting in dimmer lighting conditions with slower shutter speeds, providing greater versatility.
The Sony A9III Camera
The Sony Alpha 9 III (α9 III) is a professional-grade full-frame mirrorless camera. It is notable for being the first full-frame camera to feature a global shutter system, enabling distortion-free capture of fast-moving subjects.
The 24.6-megapixel Exmor RS CMOS sensor with a global shutter allows for simultaneous exposure and readout of all pixels, eliminating rolling shutter distortion and enabling flash synchronization at any shutter speed up to 1/80,000 second.
The camera is capable of shooting at up to 120 frames per second with full autofocus and auto-exposure tracking, all without viewfinder blackout.
The camera's equipped with a BIONZ XR image processing engine and an AI processing unit, the α9 III offers enhanced subject recognition and tracking capabilities.
Full 4K video recording is supported at up to 120 fps without sensor cropping, and in a variety of video codecs including Sony's popular XAVC and SLOG color profiles.
In addition, the A9III offers a 9.44 million-dot electronic viewfinder with 0.9× magnification and a 2 million-dot tilt-and-articulating rear screen.
Nauticam NA-α1II Housing
The NA-A1II is based on the Nauticam NA-a9III housing and can accommodate both the Sony a1II and a9III camera bodies with no modifications needed. This is really unique in the sense that you have one housing that can work with two unique Sony mirrorless cameras, and can be easily swapped in/out of the housing based on your individual needs for the upcoming dive.
Ergonomic Control Placement
The NA-A1II is designed for efficient underwater operation, placing key controls along the left and right side of the housing for easy, ergonomic access to all of your essential camera controls for focus, zoom, exposure, and many more right at your fingertips.
Thumb levers near the left and right handles allow for easy access to image review, AF controls, and record triggering. Command wheels are located along the right side for fast adjustments to shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. All of these are easily reachable, without having to remove your hands from the handles.
Len Support & Advanced Optics
The housing is built around Nauticam's N120 port system, with an assortment of dome ports, flat ports, and water contact optics available to support a wide variety of lenses. In addition, the NA-S1RII offers full compatibility with existing ports, gearing, and lens configurations from earlier models like the NA-S1R and NA-S1H.
Built on Nauticam’s renowned mirrorless housing lineup, the NA-A1II features Nauticam's N100 port mounting system. This offers an extensive range of dome ports and flat ports for the entire Sony E mount line of lenses. In addition, you can take full advantage of Nauticam entire lineup of water contact optics. These optics offer superior image quality for underwater imaging and can be configured for wide angle imaging, macro imaging, and everything in between.
In addition, the NA-A1II offers full compatibility with existing ports, gearing, and lens configurations from earlier models like the NA-A7RV, NA-A1 and NA-A7IV. This allows photographers to use the same lens, lens gearing, and port combinations across multiple sony underwater systems using Nauticam housings, along with an easy upgrade path for existing Nauticam/Sony full frame camera owners.
Optical Viewfinders
You can take full advantage of Nauticam 0.8:1 optical viewfinders to enhance the EVF found on the A1II and A9III cameras. These viewfinder are offer in a straight and angled version, but both offer an enhanced view of the cameras EVF, along with a dioptric adjustment, allowing you to fine tune the viewfinder to your eyesight.
External Monitor & HDMI Support
With a large M24 bulkhead, the NA-A1II can accommodate a wide variety of Nauticam's underwater monitors and housings via their HDMI 2.0 cabling system.
The housing also features multiple 1/4”-20 mounting points for securely attaching components such as top handles, ball mounts, and other accessories.
Vacuum Check and Leak Detection
The NA-A1II includes Nauticam’s vacuum check and leak detection system. When combined with an optional vacuum valve (25625), the system continuously monitors the housings waterproof integrity, using a simple color-coded LED indicator to signal a secure seal or potential leaks. If water intrusion occurs, an audible and visual alert is triggered.
Strobe Triggering
Two fiber-optic bulkheads are located along the top of the housing, and when combined with the Mini Flash Trigger for Sony (26302), offer high speed optical triggering for a large variety of underwater strobes. Electronic triggering is also supported with Nauticams Nikonos or Ikelite style electrical bulkheads and hotshoe kits.
