Nauticam NA-A7RVI Underwater Housing for the Sony a7R VI

The Sony a7R VI pushes the R-series to a new level, pairing a 66.8MP full-frame stacked Exmor RS BSI sensor with 30 fps shooting, AI-based Real-time Recognition AF, 8K 30p / 4K 120p 10-bit video, and up to 16 stops of dynamic range — the highest-resolution a7 body Sony has ever made. The Nauticam NA-A7RVI Underwater Housing takes all of that capability beneath the surface, delivering fingertip access to every essential control inside a rugged, precision-machined aluminum body rated to 100m. As an authorized Nauticam dealer, Reef Photo & Video builds each NA-A7RVI system to order, tests it before it ships, and backs it with in-house service from a team that dives the gear they sell.

Key Features of the Nauticam NA-A7RVI

  • Mission Control ergonomics: Key controls are arranged along the left and right sides of the housing, with thumb levers near each handle for image review, AF, and record triggering, and command wheels on the right for fast shutter, aperture, and ISO changes — all without lifting your hands from the grips.
  • Patented port locking lever: An updated locking mechanism lets you change ports in seconds, while the tool-free housing latches make quick battery and media swaps fast and secure.
  • Vacuum check & leak detection: The built-in electronic monitoring system, paired with an optional vacuum valve, continuously confirms the housing’s seal with a color-coded LED and triggers an audible and visual alert if water intrusion is detected.
  • Dual fiber-optic strobe triggering: Two fiber-optic bulkheads on top of the housing deliver high-speed optical triggering with the Mini Flash Trigger for Sony; Nikonos- and Ikelite-style electrical bulkheads support hardwired sync as well.
  • M24 HDMI monitoring: A large M24 bulkhead feeds Nauticam’s HDMI 2.0 cabling system, plus multiple 1/4”-20 mounting points for top handles, ball mounts, and accessories.

Lens & Port Compatibility

The NA-A7RVI is built on Nauticam’s N100 port mounting system, giving you an extensive range of dome ports and flat ports for the entire Sony E-mount lens lineup, plus access to Nauticam’s full range of water-contact optics for wide-angle, macro, and everything in between. It is fully compatible with existing ports, gears, and lens configurations from earlier models such as the NA-A7RV, NA-A1, and NA-A7IV — so existing Nauticam Sony owners get a smooth, cost-effective upgrade path. Larger N120-class optics mount via the appropriate adapter, including the N100 to N120 35.5mm Port Adaptor II and the N100 to N120 25mm Port Adaptor.

*NOTE: The NA-A7RVI IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH N100-N120 ADAPTERS 37305 PRIOR TO SERIAL #A566710 NOR 37306 PRIOR TO SERIAL #A512722

Hybrid Shooting & HDMI Monitoring

With 8K 30p and 4K 120p 10-bit capture, the a7R VI is a serious video tool, and the NA-A7RVI is ready to feed a large external display for critical focus and exposure. Its M24 bulkhead supports Nauticam’s HDMI 2.0 cabling: add the M24 adaptor for HDMI 2.0 cable and pair it with the Nauticam Atomos Ninja V Housing or the SDI-equipped Ninja V-S Housing. For an HDMI 1.4 setup, combine the standard HDMI bulkhead (M16) and the M24–M16 step-down adaptor, feeding the NA-Shinobi-H monitor housing.

Enhanced Viewfinder Options

The a7R VI’s superb 9.44M-dot EVF deserves an equally impressive optical viewfinder. The NA-A7RVI accepts Nauticam’s full-frame viewfinders in straight and angled versions, each with dioptric adjustment tuned to your eyesight. The 0.8:1 finders are preferred for full-frame shooting: choose the Full Frame Straight Viewfinder 40°/0.8:1 for a natural in-line view or the Full Frame Angle Viewfinder 40°/0.8:1 for low-angle and over-under compositions. The 1:1 straight and angle finders are also supported.

Premium Water-Contact Optics

To get the very best from the a7R VI’s 66.8MP sensor underwater, pair the NA-A7RVI with Nauticam’s water-contact optics. For wide angle, the Wet Wide Lens 1B (WWL-1B, 130° FOV) and the WACP conversion ports deliver corner-to-corner sharpness and expansive fields of view without a bulky dome, while retaining close focus for classic wide-angle-close-focus shots. For macro, the Super Macro Converter 3 (SMC-3) stacks onto a flat macro port for extreme magnification and edge-to-edge sharpness on the smallest subjects, while the Mid-range Focus Optimizer 3 (MFO-3) sharpens close-focus performance across the mid-range for fish portraits and larger critters.
