In 2009, Inon released their smallest, most intelligent optically triggered strobe ever. In subsequent months, Inon also updated the venerable D-2000 and Z-240 strobes with the smaller (8mm diameter vs. 15mm diameter) improved sensor used in the S-2000. These new strobes are dubbed Type 4.

In conjunction with these new/updated strobes, Inon released a new series of optical cables, 'Optical Cable L'. This cable takes advantage of the smaller sensors, and features a swivel mount to help prevent accidental damage to the optical cable.

This 'Optical Cable L' cable comes pre-configured for S-2000/Type 4 strobes, which means that they will not fit legacy Inon strobes as shipped.

Included with the cable are the parts and instructions to convert this cable for use with the older generation strobes. This conversion requires a small Phillips screwdiver and a bit of patience, but can be accomplished in just a few minutes.

Since the printed instructions can be somewhat confusing, Inon produced this video to illustrate the steps required to perform the conversion.
